Guðrið Hansdóttir is one of the most highly praised, award-winning – and most popular – singer-songwriters on the Faroe Islands. She has done a string of solo albums, as well as one with the pop-synth duo, Byrta. Her latest release is Painted Fire from 2016.
Guðrið is the daughter of well known musician Hans Carl Hansen, who played with the Faroese bands Straight Ahead and Streingjasúpan. He taught her to play guitar at a very early age, and she has been creating music ever since, and has performed on many music festivals, as well as having played shows throughout Europe and the U.S.
